Build Your Own AI Calorie Tracker in 10 Minutes (No Code Required)
Just describe what you want, enable AI Agent, and watch your calorie tracker come to life
Tired of manually searching through calorie databases? What if you could just type “I had 2 eggs and toast” and automatically log your meals?
That’s exactly what I built for myself – and you can build it too in about 10 minutes using JustCopy.AI.
The Problem with Traditional Calorie Apps
MyFitnessPal, LoseIt, and similar apps make you:
- Search through massive food databases
- Scroll through dozens of similar items
- Manually adjust serving sizes
- Tap through multiple screens per meal
It’s tedious. So I built something better.
What We’re Building
An AI-powered calorie tracker where you simply describe what you ate in plain English:
“2 scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast”
“Big Mac and medium fries”
“Grilled chicken salad with balsamic dressing”
The AI agent:
- Parses your natural language input
- Estimates calories for each food item
- Logs the meal with timestamp
- Updates your daily total
- Shows a running list of today’s meals
Here’s my personal tracker in action: https://ai-calori-calorie.justcopy.link
How to Build It (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Open JustCopy Web Apps
Go to JustCopy.AI and navigate to the web apps section. Click “Create new app”.
Step 2: Describe Your App in Plain English
This is where the magic happens. You don’t need to write code – just describe what you want:
“Create an AI calorie tracker with an AI agent. When users enter what they ate in natural language (like ‘grilled chicken salad and a Coke’), the agent should:
- Parse the food description
- Estimate calories for each item
- Save the entry with date and time
- Display today’s total calories
- Show a list of all meals logged today
Include a simple input field that says ‘What did you eat?’ with a submit button. Show the running total prominently at the top.”
Step 3: Enable AI Agent Capability
This is the critical step. In JustCopy Studio, enable the “AI Agent” capability. This allows your app to:
- Interpret natural language
- Make intelligent decisions about food and calories
- Automatically handle backend operations
- Write to your database
Step 4: Let JustCopy Build the App
You don’t need to write a single line of code. JustCopy.ai will automatically build a live website for AI Calorie Tracking.
Step 5: Test Your App
Try some example inputs:
- “I had 2 eggs and coffee for breakfast”
- “Ate a slice of pizza”
- “Chicken burrito bowl with guacamole”
Watch as the AI:
1. Breaks down your input into individual foods
2. Estimates reasonable calorie amounts
3. Adds the entry to your log
4. Updates the daily total
Step 6: Refine the Prompts
If calorie estimates seem off, you can adjust the AI agent’s instructions. For better accuracy, you could:
- Add instructions to use USDA database estimates
- Integrate a nutrition API for precise values
- Include portion size guidance
But honestly, rough estimates work great for tracking trends.
Key Features of the Final App
✅ Natural Language Input – Type exactly how you’d describe the meal
✅ Automatic Calorie Calculation– AI estimates based on common foods
✅ Daily Tracking – See today’s total at a glance
✅ Meal History – Review everything you’ve logged
✅ Mobile-Friendly – Works on any device
✅ No Manual Search – Just describe and submit
Why This Approach Works
Traditional apps fail because of friction. Every extra tap reduces adherence.
With AI agents, you remove 90% of the friction:
- No searching databases
- No picking from lists
- No adjusting serving sizes
- Just type and go
I’ve been using my version daily and it’s increased my tracking consistency dramatically.
What Makes This Possible
JustCopy’s AI Agent capability does the heavy lifting:
1. Natural Language Understanding– The agent knows “Big Mac” is ~550 calories without you needing to tell it
2. Contextual Reasoning– It understands “2 eggs” means roughly 140-160 calories
3. Automatic Backend Operations – It writes to your database without you building APIs
4. Smart Defaults – It makes reasonable assumptions about portion sizes
This would traditionally require:
- A nutrition API subscription
- Backend database setup
- Authentication system
- Frontend framework
- Hours of coding
With JustCopy + AI Agents, it takes 10 minutes.
Try the Live Demo
Before you build yours, test mine:
https://ai-calori-calorie.justcopy.link
Just type what you ate and see how it works. The interface is intentionally simple – because simple means you’ll actually use it.
Next Steps
Build your own:
1. Go to JustCopy.AI
2. Create new web app
3. Paste the prompt from Step 2 above
4. Enable AI Agent
5. Start building
Enhance it further:
- Add meal photos with AI image recognition
- Track macros (protein, carbs, fat)
- Set daily calorie goals with progress bars
- Export data to CSV
- Add meal suggestions based on remaining calories
All possible with natural language instructions to the AI agent.
The Future of App Building
This is what no-code evolution looks like. You don’t configure databases or wire up APIs anymore. You just describe what you want in plain English and enable AI capabilities.
I built my calorie tracker in an afternoon. It would have taken me days the traditional way.
What will you build next?
